Post-Abortion Shame: How It Affects Your Marriage, Parenting, and Relationship With God

Becoming the Woman God Calls His Beloved

Have you ever reacted to something that seemed small and then sat there afterward wondering, “Where in the world did that come from?” Your husband gets quiet, and your mind immediately starts filling in the blanks. Your child says one disrespectful thing, and your reaction feels much bigger than the moment deserved. Life finally becomes peaceful, but instead of enjoying it, you start bracing yourself for something bad to happen.

You pray more, serve more, and try harder to be a good wife, a good mother, and a good Christian. Yet underneath all that doing, there may still be a question you are afraid to say out loud: Does Jesus really still love me after what happened?

Post-abortion shame does not always stay neatly attached to the abortion encounter. Sometimes it shows up in the way you receive love, handle conflict, parent your children, trust your husband, and approach your relationship with God. You may know that Jesus forgives, believe every word of the Bible, and have asked Him for forgiveness years ago, but part of you may still be living as though there is a debt left to pay.

In this episode of The Worthy Womb Podcast, I am sharing one of the hardest moments from my own parenting story. It was a moment that left me looking at the damage around me and asking, “Why did I react like that?” What happened forced me to look beyond the anger and begin recognizing what was being touched underneath it.

This conversation is for the Christian woman who questions her husband’s love even when he tells her he loves her, feels fear and guilt shaping the way she parents, replays her worst moments as proof that she is failing, wonders whether hardship is punishment for her past, and knows she has been forgiven but still does not feel free. It is also for the woman who is tired of religious performance and empty Christian answers that never seem to reach the real wound.

The emotional effects of an abortion encounter can surface years later in ways you may never have connected to your past. They can look like anger, withdrawal, mistrust, overthinking, perfectionism, fear of rejection, or the inability to rest when life is finally going well.

Your most painful reaction does not have the final authority to tell you who you are. Your abortion story does not get to name you, and your worst moment does not get to define your marriage, your motherhood, your relationship with God, or the woman you are allowed to become.

In this episode, we are stepping into the final part of my signature WOMB™ Protocol: Become Who He Says You Are. We are talking about the difference between knowing in your head that God loves you and actually learning how to live as the woman He calls Beloved.

You will hear why some reactions feel so much bigger than the moment, how post-abortion shame can quietly affect marriage and parenting, why forgiveness does not always feel like freedom, and how a false identity can keep you striving, hiding, and waiting for punishment. I will also give you a private, practical step you can take with Jesus this week without requiring you to share your story with anyone before you are ready.

You do not have to keep living as though redemption belongs to everyone except you. You do not have to keep questioning love, replaying your mistakes, or wondering why you cannot simply move on.
