When You’re Tired of Being the Strong One

Restored Identity Through the Holidays | Day 3 of Ephesians

Have you ever pulled into the driveway and sat there a little longer because you knew the minute you walked inside, somebody was going to need something from you? Do you get a pit in your stomach when you think about having to sit across the table from someone who hurt you deeply years ago?

As the holidays draw closer, are you feeling excited and expectant or frustrated and fearful? You’re figuring out who’s bringing what, wondering how it’ll feel with somebody missing from the table, and trying to decide what to say if that one conversation comes up again. Somewhere in the mix, you realize that you are supposed to enjoy yourself and show up and smile through the celebrations.

Maybe the most honest prayer you’ve got today is, “Jesus, I’m tired. I need Your help right here.”

That’s where we’re starting on Day 3 of Restored Identity Through the Holidays. We’re opening Ephesians 3 and asking what it looks like to rely on the Holy Spirit when you’ve reached the end of your own strength.
