Part 2 of my raw testimony about judgment, forgiveness, and the encounter with Jesus that changed where I stood.
It is easy to feel certain about what we would do when we are standing safely outside someone else’s pain. The truth is, we rarely know the fear, pressure, loneliness, or desperation a person is carrying when nobody else is in the room.
In Part 1 of my testimony, I shared how one wrong turn after another led me somewhere I never imagined I would go. I talked about compromise, ignored warnings, and what happens when you look around at your own life and quietly ask, “How did I get here?” Part 2 takes us further down that road and into the part of my story where Jesus met me inside the very place I had once judged from a distance.
This is a difficult and deeply personal conversation, but it is also filled with hope because Jesus is not afraid to meet us in the places we are most ashamed to admit we have been.
In this episode, we look at Saul before he became known as Paul. Saul believed he was right. He believed he was defending God while persecuting the very people who belonged to Him. He was headed toward Damascus with his plans firmly in place when Jesus interrupted his journey. That encounter did more than change what Saul believed. It changed where he stood, who he stood beside, and what he would spend the rest of his life carrying into the world.
We also return to the early Christian account of Aglaius and the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste. Aglaius began that bitter night watching from the shoreline. After witnessing something he could not ignore, he left his former position and stood among the very people he had been assigned to guard.
Saul stood near the death of a believer. Aglaius watched believers suffer from the shore. Both men experienced a revelation that made it impossible to remain where they had been standing.
What happens when Jesus confronts our sin without abandoning us to condemnation? What happens when He tears down the judgment we have carried toward other people? What happens when the place we believed would disqualify us becomes the very place where His redemption is revealed?
Maybe you love Jesus, but there is still a part of your story you keep hidden. You may have repented, prayed, and asked for forgiveness, yet you continue to believe your worst decision has the authority to name you. Maybe abortion is part of your story, and you still feel separated from the women sitting beside you in church. You raise your hands during worship, but somewhere deep inside, you are still waiting for punishment.
Sister, shame does not get to sentence you after Jesus has called you forgiven.
I am not going to give away the details of this episode here because some stories need to be heard, not skimmed. I want you to hear the weight of this moment, the truth Jesus revealed, and the hope that came out of a place meant for death.
This is not simply the next chapter of my testimony. It is an invitation for you to look at the part of your own story you have been afraid to bring into the light. Your past may explain how you arrived where you are, but it does not get to decide where Jesus can take you from here
