Why Your Body Still Carries Shame After Abortion

A healing walk with Jesus for the woman whose mind knows she is forgiven, but whose body still feels the weight of her past.

Have you ever had a moment where your body reacted before your mind even had time to understand what was happening? Maybe you were sitting in church and someone mentioned a Bible story. Maybe a song started playing.
Maybe a certain memory came rushing back out of nowhere. Suddenly, your stomach tightened. Your breathing changed. Your shoulders tensed. Your heart started racing. You looked fine on the outside, yet something inside of you felt anything but fine.

Friend, I know that road.

For years, I could not understand why I loved Jesus, believed He had forgiven me, and still felt like my body was carrying the weight of shame. I knew the truth in my mind, yet there were moments when my body seemed to remember pain my heart was trying so hard to release.

That is what we are opening up in this episode of The Worthy Womb Podcast. This conversation is different from our usual front porch swing talks. This time, I am inviting you to lace up your walking shoes and come with me on a healing walk with Jesus.

In this episode, we are talking about what happens when shame, grief, trauma, and painful memories do not just stay in our thoughts, but seem to show up in our bodies too. We are also looking at a powerful moment in Scripture where Jesus met hurting people while they were still walking through confusion, sorrow, and unanswered questions.

That matters because Jesus still meets women there today. He does not wait until you have it all together. He does not require you to explain everything perfectly. He is not intimidated by the places where your heart still hurts.

  • “Why do I get so easily triggered by certain conversations?”

Healing does not always happen in one giant leap. Sometimes it begins with one honest step.

Neuroscience is helping us understand what many wounded women have lived for years; that trauma and shame can affect the nervous system in ways that feel confusing, frustrating, and even frightening.
